Son of Man
This morning in the car on the way to school I asked Ben which name of Jesus I should write about today and without missing a beat he said ' Son of man'. Which was interesting given that he had no idea that yesterday we were looking at Jesus the Son of God. :)
I realised that I didnt really know much about this title. Its one of those phrases that washes over you for years and then you take a look at it and realise that you probably haven't understood what it really means. So I went off to do a bit of finding out. In my research I came across this article which is really good and says everything in a meaningful and concise way - so there seems little point in regurgitating it all in my own words. Read it for yourself here

My thoughts after all that turned to ancestry. The fact that Jesus has a family tree just like I do. Jesus can trace His family tree back to Adam whereas I can only get mine as far back as 1700 π. But the point is that both Jesus and I come from a long line of ordinary and not so ordinary people. Jesus has criminals and prostitutes and Kings in His bloodline. I have wine merchants and railway workers and poorhouse inhabitants in mine. Hundreds of people coming together to marry and have children have contributed to me being me. In the same way Jesus. fully human, had grandparents and great great great great grandparents all of whom contributed to Him being who He was. I reckon He got His hair colour and His height and His left/right handedness from His family line. When Mary looked at the photos on the mantelpiece she would comment that Jesus really looked like Uncle Tom. π Im pretty sure He looked like His brothers ( and maybe His sisters too ) Because His genetic make-up was 100% human. It was infused with 100% divinity and His spirit was God. His body was that of a man. Hence Son of man.
Or at least that's what I think.
I may be wrong. Because to err is, after all......... human π
